NE Derbyshire MP makes a climate change Wave

Natascha Engel MP recently attended "The Wave" in Derbyshire to highlight the need for urgent action by world leaders meeting in Copenhagen to stop climate chaos.

The Wave was a large march, sponsored by The Co-operative, held in London and with smaller events all around the UK, to urge world leaders to agree to cuts in greenhouse gas emissions to stop global climate change from causing chaos and destroying the planet.

Natascha spoke about how the Copenhagen Summit is one of the final chances the world will have before it is too late. She urged negotiators to follow the UK's lead and cut XO2 emissions.

Britain was the first nation in the world to pass a Climate Change Act and the Government has committed the UK to 80% cuts, the toughest target in the developed world. Natascha highlighted that only with similar cuts can the world hope to avoid a climate change disaster.

Natascha said:

“I was glad to be able to attend the local version of the Wave.

"The fact that so many people turned out here and across the country shows just how many people care about climate change and want to see action.

"I call on world leaders meeting in Copenhagen to follow the UK's example and set tough targets on reducing CO2 and greenhouse gas emissions so we can all live in a world that is free from climate chaos.

"This may be our last chance to act before it is too late. We must act now."
